When I first signed up at the gym, I had no idea what I was doing.
I signed up at the beginning of January, as part of a New Year’s resolution.
The gym was offering a really great discount on membership fees, and I was determined to get in shape. I made a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, improve my eating habits and prioritize my health. I know that most people don’t follow through with their resolutions or their gym membership. I tried to provide incentives for myself. I decided that if I lost the weight in six months, I could buy some new clothes. If I made regular trips to the gym for a year, I could take a vacation. Signing up at the gym was really easy. I was able to handle the process entirely online. I didn’t need to even step inside the facility. I took a virtual tour of the various areas and machines. I then splurged on some really cute workout clothing and new sneakers. Actually utilizing the gym took some courage. I felt very intimidated when I first arrived. However, I found that the staff is helpful and the people friendly and encouraging. I started out on the treadmill because it’s self-explanatory. I gradually moved on to the stationary bike and elliptical. I worked my way up to the rowing machine and finally the various weight training machines. I actually enjoy and look forward to my time at the gym. It’s not only a great way to get in shape but an opportunity to clear my head and get rid of stress. At the end of the workout I feel fantastic. I am proud of my accomplishment. I not only made it through the year of membership but have continued working out four times per week for the last three years.
